Last week I read P. Djeli Clark's A Dead Djinn in Cairo and loved it! Basically steampunk and magic in Egypt, AND there's now a novel(la?) too, which I hope to read soon-ish.

I also feel like many of you might enjoy Johanna Sinisalo's The Core of the Sun? I had a few issues with it, but by the end, I was so impressed with how well she sells the idea of capsaicin as a dangerous drug, I had to give the book 5 stars, lol. And then bought another of her novels, Troll (but I haven't read it yet).

Cal Cal Cal Cal I just heard about this anime and I think you need it in your life. The Case Study of Vanitas (a Mochizuki Jun manga! aka the Pandora Hearts mangaka!) is getting an anime adaptation with Yuki Kajiura music and Studio Bones animating and uh seiyuu you probably know that I don't, and also it's vampire bishounen!!! I think the US/subtitle release is on Hulu.
