Hello everyone,
The first session of the SEAL Team Two book club will feature short stories from Issue forty-two (ie the meaning of life, the universe and everything) of Uncanny Magazine, because not all stories of issue forty-three have been published yet.
You can find the link to the whole issue here:
https://uncannymagazine.com/issues/unca ... forty-two/
We settled on trying to limit the wordcount to around 10.000, so I had to select a few stories from all of the ones in the issue. You can obviously read the other ones if you want, but these are the ones for the book club:
Short Stories (10.651 words total):
1. Mulberry and Owl by Aliette de Bodard
Content Note: Death of Children
Wordcount: 7942
Link: https://uncannymagazine.com/article/mulberry-and-owl/
5. Six Fictions About Unicorns by Rachael K. Jones
Content Note: N/A
Wordcount: 2709
Link: https://uncannymagazine.com/article/six ... -unicorns/
Poems (532 words total):
1. amorous advice for the ocean-oriented by Chiara Situmorang
Content Note: N/A
Wordcount: 190
Link: https://uncannymagazine.com/article/amo ... -oriented/
2. The Captain Flies by Avi Silver
Content Note: N/A
Wordcount: 342

Re: SEAL Book Club
Ooh, what I forgot to mention, Uncanny Magazine also has a podcast for each of their issues where they have an audio version of some of the stories too for those who would prefer to listen to them.
Episode 42a contains 'Mulberry and Owl' and the 'Captain Flies' poem and can be found here: https://uncannymagazine.com/article/unc ... dcast-42a/
We can start discussions on Saturday/Sunday and then I will post next week's stories on Monday if that's ok?

Re: SEAL Book Club
I was thinking maybe you should save that first post to either edit with the next session's stories, or to link to the next session's posts? You know, before the whole thread gets too large to navigate...

Good point, I think I'll edit the post to have a link to the start of each session each time.
