Side note, I was thinking of announcing the next batch of stories tomorrow or wednesday, but switching to having this be bi-weekly or whatever the right word is for every other week.
Oh I’m okay with fortnightly readings

We're back at Tor.com

So, the wordcount is a little higher this time, because I was looking at the stories and after adding the first two I noticed they were the third and second place winners of the LeVar Burton Reads writing contest, so I figured it would make the most sense if we just did the top three of that contest. Plus we have a little more time.

Plus as a bonus I noticed there were a few comics on Tor.com too, so I added one of those, lets say it's optional, well it's all optional, really.

So discussion isn't this weekend, but the next, so Saturday 5th of May.

Short Stories (15 459 words total):

1. Synthetic Perennial by Vivianni Glass
Wordcount: 4 799
Link: https://www.tor.com/2022/02/22/syntheti ... nni-glass/

Introduction: The third place winner of the LeVar Burton Reads writing contest, as co-presented by FIYAH Literary Magazine and Tor.com

K’Mori has died once already. Brought back to life, she struggles with the limits of her reanimation while the world struggles with its meaning.

2. Girl Oil by Grace P. Fong
Wordcount: 5 152
Link: https://www.tor.com/2022/02/22/girl-oil-grace-p-fong/

Introduction: The second place winner...

Chelle’s friend, Wenqian, has everything Chelle doesn’t. A slim figure, pale skin, and most notably the affection of her longtime friend Preston. Like the ocean waves she calls home, Chelle feels transparent and overflowing all at once. So when she’s given body oil that promises to fix all of her mistakes, she’ll use as much as it takes to reach perfection; no matter how much it hurts.

3. The Last Truth by AnaMaria Curtis
Wordcount: 5 508
Link: https://www.tor.com/2022/02/22/the-last ... ia-curtis/

Introduction: The first place winner...

A runaway and indentured thief, Eri must provide a new secret to open each new lock, at the cost of her own memory. Hundreds of locks later, Eri can barely recall her own past. An unanticipated alliance with a musician may prove the key to both their freedoms—if Eri doesn’t lose herself in the process.

Comics

1. The Auntie by Allyssa Wong and Wendy Xu
Link: https://www.tor.com/2016/10/31/comics-t ... -wendy-xu/

Introduction: Just in time for the absolute best holiday of the year, Tor.com presents a delightfully haunting witch duet from the artist Wendy Xu and author Alyssa Wong, sure to cast a spell on you!

Ok, I'm going to post new stories tomorrow of the weekend after this one and I'll make sure I actually read it and try to be the first to post something about it and I'll do a better job at starting the discussion with maybe some questions or something if needed.
