We played some more of the End of Dragons story last night and I swear to you there is a "waiting to be called at the DMV" cutscene and it is hilarious. And much shorter than actually waiting at the DMV xD

Glitch was so good!

Sometimes I think about the fact that the developers all went on to make Slack and I just stare off into the distance.

I'm not playing Rise, but rather the game it is based on, Delve, but I thought I'd mention Rise here: It's a Pen & Paper tower defense/map-drawing game where you run and expand a dungeon and defend it from heroes and adventurers

This looks super interesting! It looks like there's also a space colony flavor and they're working on a new wasteland-apocalypse sort of game in the same family.

Do you think it's moddable? Like, could I roll my own flavor of it easily?

If you like making up random tables, definitely. Same base rules, but other names for units (troops, experts...) and rooms/features, and new random tables.

For a minimal version I think you'd only need two with 13 options each. In Delve when you draw a clubs card you find a natural feature like a crystal cave or a lava stream or a nest of critters, and when you draw a spades card you draw a "remnant", like an old tomb or ruins. Hearts is resources, and diamonds trade goods, both abstracted to just a number each, so nothing to do there.

The basic game of Delve also has Good Magic, Bad Magic, Wyrd, Inventions, Adventurers, Legendary Finds, and Ancient Monstrosities. The last two are triggered when you draw a red or black joker, respectively, the others by certain results in the natural formation or remnants tables, or something you chose to do, so when you make up your tables and units and rooms, you can decide for yourself what tables you want, if any.

I love making random tables! The problem might be that I might make too many random tables. xD

I was going to check it out tonight - I bought it yesterday - but itch.io is down and I hadn't downloaded the files yet. Dangit.

I am desperately searching for a game to consume my free time to keep me distracted from high anxiety but so far I've not found anything that sticks.

BUT! While streaming, I've been playing Strange Horticulture, a game where you inherit a plant shop and need to run the shop, identify your plants, and solve a murder. Sort of Fallen London-y in setting but with Papers Please style interface and mechanics (but without the incredible stress and time pressure). I absolutely love it so far and can't wait to return to it!
