Fer.al things!

Post by corvabird »

(it's okay, you don't have to read this if not interested. Just really want somewhere to talk about fer.al things and maybe Tarot will be interested, idk)

There was a huge fer.al update and there are now loads of purchaseable creatures and mods and they've fixed a lot that was broken and are making lots of old content available again. They'll be repeating previous season passes rather than making new content in order to focus on stabilising and improving the game they already have, which imo is a really good move.

The update was huge news so the game is really busy right now with many people coming back for the first time in months!

ANYWAY given it's popular again and following a small private hide and seek game earlier this week, I finally advertised a big public hide and seek event as I'd always planned to (but kept bottling out from doing).

So on Sunday 8th I'm having a big hide and seek game and hopefully people will turn up! Eek!

OOH HECK YEAH THIS SOUNDS GREAT, sounds like they're making good dev choices too, especially since this is technically still early access, right?

I'm gonna boot it up and see the stuff! *joins the horde of people signing in for the first time in months lmao*

Wow there's been a lot of UX changes and also just general map changes? The little gourd house in Lakeroot is now like a whole fancy pond with a bridge???? wh??? when and why did that happen

I don't think I like the new jumping sfx very much but I really like that there's a special effect when you hit an invisible wall

oh I like that the loading into the world area isn't the main teleporter pad now, that was a nice change too

Yay a Cal on Fer.al!

I didn't notice the jumping changes but when I logged in a little over a month ago I was *delighted* it signals invisible walls now because it's much clearer where I should spend my time parkouring up!

And I took a while levelling up to level 42 because the skyways and skyjellies add new stuff for harvesting which I'm really enjoying. And they just added little red air glowing trails to your wings to signal when you're gliding!

They also reduced the jumping sound and laboured breathing of dragons so I'm no longer constantly irritated by my favourite creature. I did send in feedback about that too, so other people must have had the same irritation. XD

So far I'm really loving it and also just seeing all the new creature designs. The artsy folk are all buying additional look slots so they can have even more looks saved and it's made the whole game feel more bright and unique.

I'm of course disappointed there are no new quests (I *adored* the quests, Cal. If you haven't finished them yet, I highly recommend them.) BUT I'm really glad to hear they've stopped trying to tear ahead on making new things and are instead focusing on fixing glitches and QOL for existing players. Plus getting to redo the early seasons is wonderful as someone who didn't get to play them originally! All those items were just ... lost forever to me. And now I get to have them!

EDIT: oh you mean the jumping SFX! I don't know how I missed that! Yeah it can be irritating. The fae and phoenix have the most abrasive jump sounds. They actually turned them down this update, they all used to be a lot louder ... D:

I have 10 people signed up to my Hide N Seek and it's still a week away!

And another 5 are interested but can't make this one / would like a future event more friendly to their timezone!

Yay!

I was trying to think what you meant but

I get it now!

So the things you have to find for season pass changes each season. The season we joined it was a Twiggle Hut and a Hot Spring. Last season it was a reading nook and a wedding ceremony. This season it is probably that fancy pond and some other things (like the leakage sites). Some of them are put in obvious places, some are tucked away. I think the Twiggle Hut was one of the harder ones to find because it was so small!

That's not quite what I meant, I meant that the place where the Twiggle hut was on the map is now the other thing - like, not that the challenge is different, but the actual map is? but I guess the answer is probably still "they change with the season passes" in which case oh no the poor twiggles lost their houses lol

ahhh okay

yeah the answer is the same. I think it was only twiggle huts during the season we joined, then they got removed and replaced by other items / scenery (though sometimes in different places)

Yeah I love the quests! I'm not super far on them yet but I do them pretty regularly when I'm playing.

And yeah, I just... I wish there was a way to turn the sound off lol although I do like the new footstep sounds a lot, I didn't notice them right away but it's a nice immersive detail. Lots of new SFX and general UX stuff since I last played - most of it's good, but the cat jumping sound is just like hrrrrhgghhh

(turns out the unicorn one is fine, it's just a muted whicker instead of a high-pitched "PRRRR!" which is a fine sound just NOT. SO OFTEN. PLEASE. maybe just a little "mirrup" instead ghhgh I might do feedback if it gets really annoying)
