Well, in a probably predictable move, now that we've gotten webtoon set up again, I've started re-reading
The Gamer. >.>
(I was still enjoying it when we had to stop reading last time for technological reasons, but I don't remember a lot of it and, more importantly, I don't remember how far I was.)
I've been putting it off because I'd also have to start over lol
Tower of God took all my energy and I'm still two years behind

oh I just remembered, if you get the Webtoons app, it bookmarks the last read chapter but loses that information whenever you have to reinstall it. So my preferred method is to like each chapter when I finish reading it. It would work perfectly except I prefer to save episodes to read offline for faster loading, and for some reason you can't like downloaded chapters, so I have to remember to go back and like each one lol

...am I too much of a gamer nerd if my brain auto-corrects the translations in The Gamer to the correct standard English terminology? >.>

No, Webtoons as a company isn't known for good translations at all TBH

But I don't mean things like correcting basic translation - although there's some of that - but more that I know literally every single gaming concept they're referring to and the associated terminology. >.> Like I immediately recognized that "instant dungeon" is supposed to be "dungeon instance" (although I suppose it could be "instanced dungeon" as well, but the fact that it's used as referring to the space itself and not to the category of dungeon is why I'm fairly certain it's a dungeon instance), and "tanker" is "tank", "dealer/dd" is "DPS"*, "repetition" is "grinding", or "actually we say 'cc' in english too" (and then replacing "mez" with "cc" every time he uses it)
That last one actually got me wondering where the "mez" term comes from - probably originally from "mesmerize" like the narration said, but I've never played an MMO where people describe CCs as mez skills, so I'm really curious where it's used and why the author thought it would be a more commonly used game term than the "Korean" term "cc". Or maybe it's just that a lot of people who play GW2 came from kMMOs? I don't know. >.>
* I've seen people say dd as well but dps is a lot more common and it's the one I use <.<

Terminology research IS basic translation, that's my point.

People tend to only think of grammar, sentence structure and general vocabulary when terminology can actually matter more in specialized contexts. One of the standard foreign language fluency levels is literally "your knowledge of the language in your own field likely surpasses that of a native layman"
Fan translators would've nailed the terminology, but wouldn't known how to avoid the many pitfalls of translation unless they were properly trained, and tbh most readers who are gamers would've had less trouble with that
