I'm thinking about doing a reader-driven story-game on here

Re: I'm thinking about doing a reader-driven story-game on here
Okay so uh. I got stuck on character creation - the whole character creation process, not making a character - which is why I didn't post any updates again for *mumble mumble*.
So I've only just realized that since I have a thread here for it and everything, I can just... ask for feedback.... instead of making all the decisions myself....... ahem. Anyway.
The type of story I want to do is more of an ensemble-cast genre than a single protagonist genre, the whole "gang of misfit specialists who have quasi-legal supernatural adventures" thing. However, most "quest" stories like these feature a single protagonist's PoV, voting on their choices and decisions within the team. Now, I can swing that, no problem, but if I go that route, I've put myself in somewhat of an awkward position in regards to character creation.
Usually the character creation process in these things is a series of polls deciding key characteristics, which in itself poses a bit of a problem, because offering a sufficiently wide range of options when you only have maybe three to five people participating is a good way to have a tie of one vote per option. Not to mention, the way Fate character creation works, all of the player characters should be made together to tie together their backstories.
So I have two potential possible solutions here and I would like input from people who might play.
Possible Solution #1
I create a set of character template pieces that describe the character's role and relationships within the group. The options that get the most votes go into the PoV character; the other options get randomly divided among the rest of the MC's team. This would let the readers customize the MC while also ensuring that the team as a whole stays balanced.
Possible Solution #2
I create a full set of characters - each one with the aspects and skills and relationships to the others already defined - and the vote is instead a single poll for which of the team the readers want to play.
EDIT: Before someone asks, because I know someone will: no, neither of these options is easier or more difficult, the difficulty and work involved for the process for either one balances out.

it is surprisingly difficult to find good low-res image motifs to put in one's signature these days

I like option 1 more. It's got a good feel to it and allows for some wackyness.
