@senbonzakura SION! Book of Travels just updated and now character appearance customisation is in during character creation!

I might ... I might actually roll up a new character! Even though my current one is super geared up!

Also I think one of the updates they added was scaling UI -- hopefully that'll include text!
YOOOOO OMG I HAVE TO TRY REROLLING TONIGHT even though nighttime is a little scary and you don't start out with a light source >.> the scaling UI is extremely exciting as well! i hate having to play in fullscreen mode.... <.<
oh geez this is an extremely large update

I actually lucked out and rolled up a set of starting gear that included a torch, but then it wasn't actually night time?

I am extremely confused about how time works in the game, now. I know that the days of the week map to real-world calendar days, but how does the time of day work?? I read something about the servers having different timezones? I thought choosing from the US West region would mean the servers were always pacific time but that's proven to not be the case.

As I remember it, servers have different time zones that should map to real-world days for their real-world time zones. I think they change between day and night at something like 8pm and 8am server time (it's a specific time, not sure what the time actually is). But there's a bit of a staggering effect between different instances, so perhaps you were on one that hadn't updated yet.

That, or they've updated day / night cycle to be more variable and I just don't know it yet XD

Ah, okay! So that would put the server I was on last night in.... *checks* ....Hawaii time, apparently. <.< Which is a place where people live, so I would believe it.

I saw some posts floating around about ways to see which servers are on which timezones; I might spend the time to figure out how to do that. I'm generally unopinionated about day/night cycle mechanics but I'm not a fan of being surprised by them.

Oh no, I meant USW is on a generic USW timezone with some small variations between each smaller instance on USW. I don't believe they vary as much as that -- or they didn't in the past, anyway. I don't think?

ah! i read some things that indicated they did, but my testing last night would confirm what you said

...which means it'll be very difficult for me to play at night, actually. <.<

I have the same problem except for day!

Also there are some events that only happen on certain days of the week as well as events that only happen at certain times, so there are big advantages to playing at different times and days when you get the chance. Folk have requested some variation across servers there to make the game more accessible but I don't think that's planned to be implemented yet.

oh yeah I know that part! i'm actually deliberately avoiding looking up when and where things happen because i kind of like the feel of just wandering around and happening to be in town when XYZ is happening rather than deliberately seeking things out

but staying up past midnight to see nighttime is a bit much lmao
