Ok! Let's just do it.

But let's not do it in two weeks, because next next week is easter weekend I think? And let's start the discussion on the Sunday, since I'll probably just read them on Saturday anyway.

Short Stories (11,340 words total):

1.DOC LUCKLESS AND THE STATIONMISTRESS by THORAIYA DYER
Wordcount: 6800
Text version: https://clarkesworldmagazine.com/dyer_04_22/
Audio version: https://clarkesworldmagazine.com/audio_04_22/

2. TWO SPACESUITS by LEONARD RICHARDSON
Wordcount: 4540
Text version: https://clarkesworldmagazine.com/martino_11_21/
CORRECTION! https://clarkesworldmagazine.com/richardson_04_22/
So uh it took me like 3 tries to realize the link to story number two was wrong lmao

ANYWAY, Two Spacesuits was an unexpected delight?? I haven't read Doc Luckless yet (tried listening to the audio but just wasn't in the mood I guess)

Yeah, I copied the link from last time, well, I copied the whole post from last time and changes the titles and links, but forgot one.

So I just read Two Spacesuits and, while I was supposed to be working (hey, it's pretty quiet ok), and yes, it's absolutely lovely. You have to love an old bickering couple, great trope.
We’ve been married for thirty years! If I say she’s making some noises, she should be able to handle it.
Can I not want my son to come visit once in a while?
And the ending is not what I was expecting, but very sweet. I liked the final line too.

This could easily be expanded into a pilot for a 3rd Rock From the Son or Alf style sitcom with an alien stuck across two human bodies, you gotta give the alien other motivations besides getting of the planet to do wacky stuff, though. Wouldn't make it to a series, of course, but it'd be a nice pilot for people to rediscover twenty years afterwards on youtube.
