I got an email from itch with a whole buncha game jams, and these two in particular caught my eye.
Finally Finish Something 2022 - I'm thinkin of doing that one to get Soul Scribes moving again, seems like a worthy endeavor.
Virtual Pet Jam - c'mon. VIRTUAL PETS. Any excuse to make one amiright lmfao
Here's the other upcoming jams if y'all are interested, I'm pretty sure the email I got was just the Featured ones.

Re: Game jams!
I know there's a lotta writers on here so if you're into IF (text-based interactive fiction) there's these two jams for it, one with voting and rankings and one that's just for fun and community involvement

Re: Game jams!
Oh these are interesting! I don't know if I have time for a month-long game jam (in fact, I know I don't) but I really like the idea of taking part in one.
Please do make virtual pet things. You are very excellent at virtual pet games!
I am quite tempted by the Finally Finish Something Jam ... I'll see how my time shakes out this week, but I'd love to finish my ... RPG? Text adventure with RPG appearance? Dating Sim? ... Salkere. Just need to get Joh to fix a broken script for me so I can continue. :/

If there's anything I can help with re: script (e.g. if it's a code thing not an install or setup thing) lemme know
I've been chewing on a v-pet game but the problem is I have too many vague ideas and not enough concrete ones, except for my Backyard Dragons game that's not exactly in the theme anyway. My big hangup atm is do I want it to be a toy game or do I wanna make it something you play long term? The first is easier to make but the second is more interesting,,,,

Re: Game jams!
Thanks for the offer! Joh didn't get around to looking at it this weekend so we'll try today hopefully. I don't know if the code is easily viewable since it's in RPG Maker but if I can find it that would be wonderful.InspectorCaracal wrote: ↑Sat 01 Jan, 2022, 6:07 pmYesssss do it!!corvabird wrote: ↑Sat 01 Jan, 2022, 11:08 amOh these are interesting! With the v-pet thing, I guess weigh easy vs interest. Like right now, are you looking for a big project you can dive into for a long time, or do you want something you can complete and tick off the list? I don't know the length of the jam but that might affect the answer?

Re: Game jams!
Hrmm. The jam is just over two weeks and I def want to actually finish it during that period, so I do need a smallish scope, dev-wise.corvabird wrote: ↑Tue 04 Jan, 2022, 12:49 pmWith the v-pet thing, I guess weigh easy vs interest. Re: Game jams!
Yet again I'm faced with the one ability I need in game making: Arting.
I cannot art.
And I like to make games with some visuals...

But I think I'll pass for now. It will take much more spoons than I have to communicate and such. But I really appreciate the offer ^.^
