Our Protagonist is
The Human Encyclopedia, a reenlisted retiree. They're human.
Their name is Blake
They seem to be made up of sharp anglular features. Some part of them always seems to be moving whether it's tapping toes, fingers moving as if typing, or their eyes darting about.
Their gender is

One of a rotating collection of well worn copies of books that usually are only seen on bookshelves rather than actually read (The Silmarillion; Godel, Escher, Bach; volumes of Knuth's The Art of Computer Programming).
