I just realized I need a thread to document updates and changes I do on the forum, and we don't have a "News" forum so here it is. I'll start off with the few things I've added in the past couple months.

• Two custom BBCode tags:

  Code: Select all

  [center]centered text[/center]

  and

  Code: Select all

  [strike]strikethrough formatting[/strike]

• They look like centered text and strikethrough formatting
• PMs can now have files attached.
• PDFs are now an allowed file attachment type.
• The maximum file upload size has been increased a bit - it should be 512MiB across the board if I didn't miss some setting somewhere.

I've added a small-caps BBCode and also in the process discovered the checkbox to add buttons for custom BBCodes to the posting page, which will make using them easier.

I'll try to figure out how to change the button to show something other than the code text, later.

I've added a new publicly visible forum for discussing web fiction type things.

I'll be making a quick pass over existing Public threads to see if any should be moved there.

FINALLY tracked down and fixed the annoying Invisibly Zero Width Dropdowns issue that's been plaguing me. If you never saw it: great! If you too were annoyed by this: it's fixed!

We can now all enjoy such exciting functionality as "seeing people's contact info on forum posts" and "accessing other parts of your account settings and forum customization".

Small new feature update! You can now @mention people on the forum when you post.

I realize this is a bit lengthy to type, but I haven't figured out how to make the custom-added BBCode buttons use shorter button text yet. Once I do I'll add a button and clean that up a bit.

If you don't want to get @mention notifications: the Notification Options page in your Account Settings has an item at the bottom to control whether or not you get notifications for mentions.

Second: we have custom emoji! Mostly! I'll figure out how to implement a proper UI for them at some point, but in the meantime, here's a list of all the emoji you can use (in alphabetical order).

Fun stuff update! :D

I've put together a small chat room service for the Planet here. It's missing "joined/left" messages and probably needs some more layout tweaks but otherwise does exactly what you expect a chat room to do.

edit: It has the joined/left messages now
